As a pioneer of generative art, Refik Anadol creates monumental works in which data becomes a living material. At the Guggenheim Bilbao, he has designed an immersive installation that draws on decades of Frank Gehry’s archives—plans, sketches, and photographs—to create a dialogue between artificial intelligence and the iconic architecture of the museum that hosts it.
Refik commissioned me to visualize the building’s technical plans, translating structural documents into immersive visual compositions on the scale of the gallery. This work accompanies the transition from raw archives to the latent spaces of AI, at the heart of the work’s first chapters (Data Universe, Data
Plotting).
